RENDERING ARTIST TAKES A SHOT AT A CHEVROLET CAMARO EV

The Chevrolet Camaro is cemented in the Pantheon of Automotive Americana. It’s an iconic vehicle from General Motors, has a strong motorsports lineage, and can be found at any given weekend car meet. It’s also long been identified with high-value horsepower; the kind that the muscle car segment is known for. However, The Powers That Be are forcing the muscle car segment to rethink that formula. Electrification is the topic du jour, and even the Camaro can’t escape it. So with that in mind, what would a Chevrolet Camaro EV look like?

TheSketchMonkey recently put together a video sharing what he thinks the Chevrolet Camaro might look like as an EV. He took style cues from the new Equinox EV and Blazer EV to accomplish the look and started out with a Camaro ZL1 as its base. The end result looks quite similar in style to the Equinox more than anything, and while he did not touch up the interior, we can imagine that it would look something like this proposal from GM Design.

As MC&T first reported in 2019, the sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro will sunset after the 2024 model year, and its finale will consist of a simple collector’s edition package, featuring commemorative details, but no adjustments to the powertrain. The plans for what was going to be the seventh-generation Camaro were scrapped in 2018 during a corporate strategy restructuring, as were the plans for a sixth-generation Z/28. When the Camaro nameplate will resurface for a seventh-generation is currently unclear.

The decline of the Camaro and the muscle car segment as a whole seems to be the byproduct of a rise in affection for performance trucks and SUVs, which are currently enjoying a golden age. GM, among other auto manufacturers have made a politically correct promise to become fully electric by 2035. It’s unlikely that the Camaro remains a V8 internal combustion coupe, but one can dream.
