It looks like Chris Hampton has Oregon on the short list for one of the top safeties in the country. Gonzaga (Md.) safety Kainoa Winston has named his final four with On3’s Hayes Fawcett. Making the cut is Oregon, North Carolina, Penn State and Michigan. The 5-foot-10, 185-pounder is the No. 96 ranked player in the On3 Industry Rankings. He is the No. 10 ranked safety nationally. As we inch closer to the start of the college football season some of the kickoff times and television information has been announced. Oregon kicks off its 2024 season with a home game against Idaho on Aug. 31. That game will air on the Big Ten networks and kickoff is set for 4:30 PST. ***Offensive Line Transfer Set to Return*** In week two they will host Boise State and kickoff is set for 7 PM PST. It would appear Dana Altman isn’t done in the transfer portal just yet. Late Wednesday CBSSports hoops insider Jon Rothstein posted the Ducks would host Miami transfer Wooga Poplar next week. A specific day was not given for the visit. The 6-foot-5, 197-pounder is considered a shooting guard. He started 29 games for the Canes last season, only missing 2 due to an ankle injury. Last season Poplar averaged 13.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. He scored in double figures in 21 of his 29 starts last season. One of the top linebackers out West has trimmed his list. And a healthy trim it was with only three schools left standing. La Cueva (N.M.) linebacker Mason Posa announced a final three of Oregon, Wisconsin and Texas A&M Wednesday evening. The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder is the No. 275 ranked player in the On3 Industry Rankings. He is the No. 29 ranked linebacker nationally. Well Oregon fans finally got the answer they were wanting. They just didn’t get the answer they wanted. On Thursday morning CBSSports hoops insider Jon Rothstein announced Oregon center N’Faly Dante was denied his appeal by the NCAA. Dante was hoping to get another year of eligibility for this college season. ESPN hoops guru Jay Bilas blasted the NCAA for its decision. Dante had two seasons cut short due to injury. One of Dan Lanning’s top commitments will reportedly play his junior season of high school football in Eugene. That’s right, junior season. Class of 2026 defensive line commit Tony Cumberland will transfer to Willamette High School for this upcoming season. The school announced the move on an Instagram news page. Cumberland is the No. 32 ranked player in the On3 Industry Rankings for his class. He is the No. 2 ranked defensive lineman in the class and top-ranked player from the state of Arizona.
