Since Chevrolet won’t be building a competitor with the Ford Raptor and Ram TRX, aftermarket companies have taken the task into their own hands. While the Blacklake XT1 is a viable option, its price is significantly higher than many would want to pay for any vehicle intended for off-roading and tackling dunes. However, the PaxPower Jackal is a different story, a substantially more affordable alternative that still makes the Chevrolet Silverado a beast off the pavement.
PaxPower recently published a video on its YouTube channel showcasing a walkaround of the Jackal, all compressed into a short 5 minutes and 24 seconds, so prospective buyers won’t lose interest or zone out while hearing about all the features added to the Chevrolet Silverado. To start, the PaxPower Jackal has received a wider stance with the help of widebody fabrication which adds to the capacity of the wheels the truck can equip, along with movement for off-roading. The widebody also adds sharper, more aggressive body lines that complement the Silverado perfectly.
We won’t go too in-depth with what the video showcases so you can watch it for yourselves, but seeing what PaxPower has done to the Chevrolet Silverado to create the Jackal helps solidify understanding visually, which text can not. That said, we’ll highlight some of the exquisite features that make this the ultimate TRX and Raptor competitor.
PaxPower Jackal: Details
With a new suspension system with fabricated boxed steel control arms that widen the track by 6 inches and boost ground clearance by 3 inches, there’s a significant improvement in capability over the stock Silverado. Additionally, with 35-inch or 37-inch BFGoodrich tires wrapped around the new 17-inch off-road wheels, the truck looks aggressive and features more contact to the ground than standard.
As for power output, PaxPower now offers a 3.0-liter supercharger mated to the 6.2-liter V8 to boost power to 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. This variant includes a high-flow air intake, a separate cooling system, and a tuned ECU. If you’re not looking for higher power numbers, you can also opt for Chevy’s 3.0-liter diesel, 5.2-liter V8, and 6.2-liter V8 without the supercharger. Pricing for a Chevrolet Silverado PaxPower Jackal starts at $24,950, plus the donor truck. The supercharger system will add $12,450 to the sticker price. Finally, if you own or have ordered a Silverado ZR2, PaxPower offers a Jackal conversion that adds $19,950 to the cost of the off-road truck.
