And this year, Dodge is celebrating the occasion by launching a 22-minute video, “Dodge Demon 170: Devil in the Details,” giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at the Dodge Challenger Demon 170‘s jaw-dropping Helicopter-drop reveal that transpired during the Last Call festival.

Dodge Demon 170 Reveal Behind The Scenes: Details

The 22-minute video captures the stunning reveal of the 1,025-horsepower Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 in Las Vegas last month. As Dodge brand CEO Tim Kuniskis stated, “There was no way we were going to let this era end quietly.” The company went out with a bang unveiling the most epic Hemi-powered Dodge muscle car ever.

The reveal was nothing short of spectacular, with the most powerful muscle car ever flying onto the scene via a Kaman K-MAX helicopter. This tandem rotor chopper was initially designed and produced by Kaman in the early 90s and began production in 1995, built to lift external loads. Along with a unique appearance, helicopter blades are also made out of wood to absorb the twist and maintain strength.

Some other facts about the event that you might not have known include:

  • The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 at the event was elevated at the rear end before its reveal on the track and run for three to four miles to get the transmission, the driveline, the differential, all the grease, all the metal pieces that are spinning, warmed up to temperature so that when it was on the track the Demon 170 was hot and ready to go.
  • The milestone completed for testing the Dodge Demon 170 on the dragstrip was 100 passes.
  • Helicopter pilot Neal Jenson needed to be in constant contact with Nellis Air Force Base due to the proximity to the track
  • The generator used for the daylong event could power a town of 50,000 people.
  • The production truck, built specifically for live television, could handle up to 22 cameras.
