Leeds United manager Daniel Farke awarded Championship Manager of the Month award for February

Daniel Farke has won the Championship’s Manager of the Month award for February after another brilliant month in which Leeds United picked up five league wins in five – keeping four clean sheets.

It comes after Farke won the January award, with Leeds on fire since the turn of the year. February got underway with a crucial 1-0 win away at Bristol City, Willy Gnonto scoring the only goal of the game.

Comfortable wins over Rotherham United, Swansea City and Plymouth Argyle followed – without conceding a goal and scoring nine in the process. Then, of course, the win over Leicester at home.

A brilliant win, that created a carnival-like atmosphere at Elland Road. Five wins from five, and a run of form that has seen Leeds move into direct competition with Ipswich Town for a place in the top two.

Indeed, Danny Murphy is of the opinion that Southampton are now out of the running – with the Saints six points behind Leeds, eight behind Ipswich. That is, despite their game in hand over the top three.

Farke – having won the January award – was nominated alongside Hull City gaffer Liam Rosenior, the impressive Marti Cifuentes of the improving QPR and Ryan Lowe at Preston. But, Farke came out on top.

Leeds have picked up four more points since those five games in February, and will be looking to make it 11 wins from 12 league games tonight – when we go to Hillsborough to take on Sheffield Wednesday.

A win will see Leeds go above Ipswich, at least until Ipswich take to the field on Saturday lunchtime – travelling to Wales to take on in-form Cardiff City. 10 Cup finals left, for Farke and Leeds in the race.
