'Back to business': Cadamarteri sends message on Sheffield Wednesday return after England U19 exploits

Bailey Cadamarteri has shared a message ahead of his return to Sheffield Wednesday this week.

Having played for Sheffield Wednesday U18s last season, Bailey Cadamarteri probably never expected the success he has enjoyed this time round.

The striker made his senior debut in the 4-0 defeat to Millwall in November, before netting his first goal for the club less than a month later.

Cadamarteri ended up scoring three goals in four games, before his regular run in the starting line-up ended last month.

At only 18, the forward still has plenty of time to develop into a key player for Sheffield Wednesday, while he will also be eager to make his mark on the national team too.

Cadamarteri’s breakthrough campaign in the Championship earned him his first cap for England U19s last week, coming off the bench in a 1-1 draw with Morocco.

The teenager’s week got even better when he scored his first international goal in a 3-2 defeat to USA t the weekend, bagging an equaliser from the penalty spot in the first half.

He has now taken to X to share a message following a ‘great week’ with the Young Lions.

He wrote: “Had a great week with @England u19s.

“1st international camp✅

1st international games✅

1st international goal✅

Great experiences now back to business with @swfc.”

Can Bailey Cadamarteri notch it up a level for the final stretch?

Cadamarteri will be one of many players eager to make an impact in the final stretch of the season – using the confidence he has earned on international duty to help Sheffield Wednesday avoid relegation.

Di’Shon Bernard is another that has enjoyed a successful international break and will now have to be at his best to keep the Owls in the Championship.

Cadamarteri still has plenty of competition for his place in the starting line-up though, with Ike Ugbo likely to remain the number one choice up top.

The 18-year-old should really use these final games as an audition for next season though, with Ugbo likely to return to Troyes at the end of his loan spell.

Whatever league Danny Rohl’s side are in, Cadamarteri will be eager to catch the German coach’s eye and hope that he is given a second chance at leading the line.
