‘Incredible’ Tottenham midfielder stamped on during international duty in ‘worrying’ moment

Tottenham Hotspur have seen one of their midfielders pick up an injury concern during the international break.

The players will now be heading back to Hotspur Way ahead of their game on the weekend at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

But it seems there may be one player who Ange Postecoglou will be sending his staff to check on following an incident on Tuesday.

Lucas Bergvall injury news

Although he is yet to join up with the Spurs squad following his January signing, Lucas Bergvall is a player the Spurs officials will have their eye on.

The 18-year-old is currently playing for Djurgarden until the summer having rejected an offer from Barcelona to join Spurs.

He has already been tipped to become even better than Dejan Kulusevski with Alasdair Gold labelling him as “incredible”.

But it seems the midfielder could be out of action for the Swedish side after being withdrawn after an hour for Sweden’s U21 side on Tuesday through injury.

The Swedish media said Bergvall was stamped on and was replaced ‘after limping around for a while’ in what is a ‘worrying’ incident for both Djurgarden and Spurs.

What Djurgarden’s director said about Bergvall’ at Tottenham’s injury

Although Spurs will not need Bergvall until the summer, Djurgarden’s season kicks off on the weekend and it looks like the 18-year-old may be a doubt.

The director of the Swedish side has been very open when it comes to the young midfielder.

Bosse Anderson was spotted in north London a number of weeks ago as he travelled to meet with Daniel Levy.

On the back of the meeting, the directorrevealed what the plans were in north London for Bergvall when he lands in the summer.

And it seems Anderson has already provided the latest on Bergvall’s injury having been in touch with the Sweden U21 camp.

He said: “The foot is wrapped but he is in good spirits and hopeful. We’ll see what it looks like when he gets home.

“It’s boring, of course, but when you play football, things can happen. That is the difficult part of running a football club. But we are hopeful and we will have to come back and make an assessment on Thursday when he is home.”

It is great to hear Bergvall is in good spirits which may suggest the injury is not too serious and his withdrawal was more through precaution.

Bergvall will be entering a competitive midfielder department at Hotspur Way in the summer and having as much experience under his belt as possible could be key.

He will have to battle with the likes of Pape Matar Sarr for a starting spot, so arriving on the back of a significant injury will only harm his chances ahead of the new term.
