£90k-per-week Tottenham player reveals he is struggling with injury issue after international break

Tottenham Hotspur may be coming out of the international break with an injury concern to one of their players.

It has been a season to forget when it comes to injuries for Ange Postecoglou’s side with numerous players struggling over large periods of the campaign.

And it seems, going into the game against Luton Town, there may be another player who could potentially be unavailable.

Richarlison injury news

Tottenham’s Brazilian number nine, Richarlison, has had his issues this season with injury and has even gone under the knife for a groin issue.

However, he has been struggling with a knee issue over recent weeks following the defeat to Wolves.

He did return to the squad last time out against Fulham, but he only played the final 10 minutes off the bench.

And he has since travelled with Brazil for their two friendly games against England and Spain, but remained an unused subsitute.

It seems there may be a reason why he didn’t play as he has now informed the Brazilian media of his injury issues, he said: “I spoke to Professor Dorival. He understood that I’m not 100% physically fit. I’ve been feeling my knee a little. Even with the effort on a daily basis, I felt it. I’m happy with the team’s performance anyway. We grew a lot in both games and now I will recover well…”

What Dejan Kulusevski has said about Richarlison

With Champions League football to play for in the remaining 10 games of the season, Spurs could do with the £90k-per-week Richarlison’s influence in front of goal.

The Brazilian was on a hot streak prior to his injury issue with his knee having scored nine in his previous 10 games.

Spurs have been able to rely on other sources for goals in his absence with the likes of Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner chipping in.

However, it has meant Son has had to play through the middle, which some may not consider his best position.

The South Korean does not provide the same aerial threat of the Brazilian and it is apparent that is something Dejan Kulusevski will be missing.

In a recent interview, the Swede admitted he has been seriously impressed by Richarlison’s ability to score with his head. He said: “Play to players’ strengths. Richy is unbelievable with the head and he loves those goals. So as soon as I get this ball I try to find a little bit of space so I can put the cross in. You see Richy’s movement is also really good.”

Playing without Richarlison changes the dynamic of the Spurs side as they are unable to launch balls into the box for Son to attack – he is just not that type of player.

But this only emphasis Spurs’ need to bring in another striker over the summer given the regular injury issues Richarlison is now picking up.
