Report: Crystal Palace set to make at least £32m profit if "great" player leaves this summer

Crystal Palace are expecting a few big paydays this summer, now it’s been reported one player, in particular, could fetch a huge fee.

The summer is almost upon us, and with just 10 games remaining this season Crystal Palace will already be looking eagerly toward the transfer window.

Oliver Glasner will be hoping to rebuild his side in his vision this summer, and that could be funded by some heavy hitters heading out the door.

We all know who these names are, with Michael Olise‘s release clause being eyed up by both Manchester clubs and Chelsea, while City and Spurs look at Eberechi Eze with fond eyes.

Both Joachim Andersen and Marc Guehi could also be the subject of interest in the summer, with the latter attracting interest from multiple sides.

Any of these sales could bring a huge profit for Palace, now a report has named just how much Dougie Freedman can expect to get back for one name.

Marc Guehi could bring Crystal Palace at least £32m profit

Guehi is destined to become – if he isn’t already – one of the Premier League’s best defenders.

Now his price tag this summer has been discussed with it being thought he’ll cost at least £50m for whoever is keen, according to The Telegraph.

They reported: “Marc Guehi at Crystal Palace also earning admirers in the Premier League. Guehi and [Jarrad] Branthwaite are expected to both break through the £50 million barrier as homegrown talents who are in [Gareth] Southgate’s plans.”

This would be excellent news for Palace.

Selling Guehi – for a minimum of £32m profit – would be huge and a sign of the recruitment strategy beginning to work.

This comes three years after the Eagles signed Guehi for £18m from Chelsea.

Guehi has been seriously impressive at Selhurst Park, even being labelled as ‘strong and authoritative’ by Gary Lineker.

Selling Marc Guehi won’t be detrimental to Oliver Glasner

Concerns may arise should Guehi be sold this summer over the fact Palace should be strengthening the defence, not weakening.

But without Guehi, Palace have managed pretty well and for a fee of above £50m, it would be expected that a pretty decent player can be signed as a replacement.

The former Chelsea youth player represents exactly what Freedman has tried to do with his recruitment and now it seems to all be paying off.

So if any player is sold this summer, Guehi is the one, although it is likely to be more than one.
