27-year-old Tottenham player will be sold this summer after failing to impress Ange Postecoglou

Tottenham Hotspur are now planning to offload one of their players this summer after he’s failed to impress the manager.

This summer could see a number of players sold by the club as Ange Postecoglou continues to put his stamp on the squad.

And it seems there is one player, in particular, who the club are keen to sell over the coming months.

Tottenham ready to sell Tanguy Ndombele this summer

It has been a transfer which all parties will be keen to forget having signed Ndombele back in 2019 from Lyon for a club-record fee of £63m.

Postecoglou has seemingly not been impressed with what he has seen from Ndombele during their brief time together last summer.

There have already been claims that Postecoglou has no plans for Ndombele ahead of his loan return from Turkey.

Speaking on a YouTube transfer show, the Italian journalist has admitted the Frenchman is one of the players Spurs have on their transfer list already.

He said: “He will leave. That’s the idea. Obviously, I think it’s one to follow in the summer because, at the moment, it is still early to understand if there will be some opportunity in Europe or in a different market – that is a possibility.”

What Jose Mourinho said about Ndombele

Ndombele landed at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with fans hoping for big things given the money Spurs had to part with.

However, it has perhaps turned out to be the most disappointing signing the club have made in their history.

And there have to be some serious questions asked of what comes next for Ndombele.

The Frenchman is now 27-years-old and having spent time away on three loan deals, none of the clubs have wanted to sign him permanently.

Here is a brief summary of his time in north London…

  • 5161 minutes played
  • 91 appearances
  • 10 goals
  • 9 assists
  • 10 yellow cards
  • 3 loan spells away

He had an infamous run in with Jose Mourinho when the Portuguese manager withdrew the midfielder at half-time in a game away to Burnley. Mourinho said: “In the first half we didn’t have a midfield.”

“But I’m not going to run away and I have to say he [Ndombele] has had enough time to come to a different level.”

“He’s a player with great talent. He has to know he has to do much better and know I cannot keep giving him opportunities to play because the team is much more important.”

As harsh as the comments may have been, it is clear to see Mourinho was proven to be right and Postecoglou is showing no sign of providing him any opportunities.

When Spurs have the likes of Pape Matar Sarr and Lucas Bergvall – soon to arrive – at the club, the club need to move on from the Frenchman.
