Report: Tottenham now expected to bid for £42m speedster likened to Mo Salah; he's 'hard to defend against'

With the summer transfer window now on the horizon, speculation linking Tottenham Hotspur with potential reinforcements.

Spurs have enjoyed a great season under Ange Postecoglou, looking much improved from the team that limped to an eighth-placed Premier League finished last term.

However, Tottenham shouldn’t – and likely won’t – rest on their laurels. They were busy in both of the transfer windows just gone, and this could well be the case again.

Spurs have been linked with a host of attacking players in recent months, and even though they signed Timo Werner on an initial loan deal in January, there’s always score for more.

Now, a report from Germany has named Tottenham in conjunction with a 25-year-old forward whose game has been inspired by Liverpool star Mohamed Salah.

The player in question is Omar Marmoush, who plays in attack for Eintracht Frankfurt and the Egypt national team.

According to BILD (28/3/24, pg 30), the German club have ‘assumed’ that Tottenham and other potential suitors will bid for him at some point.

The report goes on to say that Frankfurt are expecting the likes of Spurs to bid €50-60million (£42-51million) on Marmoush.

Crucially for Tottenham and the rest, Frankfurt are apparently willing to take to the negotiating table and won’t stand in his way.

Who is Tottenham Hotspur target Omar Marmoush?

Marmoush has been in superb form for Frankfurt this season, registering 15 goals and six assists in 33 games in all competitions to date.

As per the official Eintracht website, the reported Spurs target has ‘picked up many of the facets of his game from Egypt’s superstar Mohamed Salah, who he names as his biggest idol.’

They also quote Marmoush as saying: “When I watch him, I can learn a lot.”

Meanwhile, the Bundesliga website has compared Marmoush’s style of play to Hoffenheim and Croatia ace Andrej Kramaric.

“He works extremely hard and is hard to defend against,” they quote Frankfurt boss Dino Toppmoller as saying.

“His pace makes him an awkward opponent for defenders when he runs in behind them. I like that he is very diligent and always listens. His goals are a reward for his effort.”

All in all, Marmoush seems like an interesting shout for Spurs. Let’s see whether there will be more concrete speculation in the coming months.
