TalkSPORT pundit says Tottenham man who Pep Guardiola loves would leave if Liverpool come knocking

TalkSPORT pundit Jermaine Pennant has suggested a key Tottenham Hotspur man would leave this summer for Liverpool.

A number of additions have arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium over the last 12 months.

And they have not just been limited to new faces on the pitch, Daniel Levy has also made a number of changes off it too.

It has been an impressive campaign for Spurs on the back of their spell with Antonio Conte at the helm.

But it has now been suggested they could lose a key figure if Liverpool do come calling in the summer.

What Jermaine Pennant said about Ange Postecoglou

Ahead of the summer, Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he will be leaving Liverpool following nine years at Anfield.

One of the names who has been linked with the job is Tottenham’s very own Ange Postecoglou.

Reports have suggested that both Liverpool and Manchester United have an eye on the Australian as potential successors for their current bosses.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, the former Liverpool player has said he thinks the 58-year-old wouldn’t think twice about leaving if a switch to Anfield was on the cards.

He said: “Where Spurs were to where they are now, it’s night and day. And that’s credit to him. He’s done a fantastic job. I think that if Liverpool came knocking on the door and said, ‘Postecoglou here we go, mate, get yourself in Klopp’s going.’ I think he’s jumping ships.

“The reason I’m saying that is because Liverpool will always be fighting for silverware, Champions League and the league. And they’ve won everything domestically in the last eight/seven years. If he’s at Spurs, they don’t win anything, they’ve not won anything for donkey’s years.”

What Pep Guardiola said about Ange Postecoglou

Unfortunately for Spurs, it is only natural to see Postecoglou’s name thrown into the discussion for other jobs.

He has done a sensational job since landing at Hotspur Way over the summer with a clear project put in place for the future.

Spurs are well on their way to qualifying for a Champions League spot for next season. They may now only have to finish fifth to achieve that.

After all, this is a manager who has received a lot of praise this season, including from Pep Guardiola.

The Manchester City boss said: “Every team plays for the desire of the manager, what he’s done in Japan and in Glasgow with Celtic and now. He makes football a better place, people like Ange.”

“I met him in pre-season playing Yokohama. I saw some clips and I said, ‘Wow’.”

The prospect of managing this Liverpool side after Klopp will also bring a lot of uncertainties.

This current group of players will have a lot of loyalties towards the German and the future of players like Mohamed Salah is already uncertain.

Granted, Liverpool are a side who have battled for the title over recent years, but it does seem like Postecoglou is settled in north London.

Players like Heung-min Son and Cristian Romero are thriving under the 58-year-old, so the prospect of losing him already would be a huge blow.
