‘Let him start’… Chelsea fans urge Mauricio Pochettino to recall £110k-a-week player vs Manchester United

Chelsea take on Manchester United on Thursday night in another important Premier League match. It’s very interesting to see in the build up that some fans are putting pressure on Mauricio Pochettino to recall one player.

The Blues host rivals Man United later at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League, with both teams going into the fixture off the back of poor performances at the weekend.

Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino needs a reaction from his side after the frustrating draw with Burnley. In fact, GIVEMESPORT reports that Pochettino is now under “fresh scrutiny” at the club going into the Man United game.

As for Erik ten Hag’s Man United team, they were outplayed and miles from their best in the recent draw at Brentford.

Chelsea defence must fix up

Chelsea have conceded two goals in their previous five matches across all competitions, so Pochettino’s got to intervene and try help a struggling defence.

Could Thiago Silva be the answer for the Blues?

He missed a few games through injury in February, but the £110,000-a-week Brazilian man (Spotrac) has been an unused substitute in the club’s last four matches across all competitions.

Silva was a key player for Chelsea earlier in the season under Pochettino. It feels like he’s being phased out by the manager, though, with his contract expiring this summer.

If the experienced defender can make a difference to the XI now, he should be starting now regardless of his future.

Chelsea fans demand Thiago Silva starts

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media are saying that Silva needs to be recalled to the starting line-up versus Man United.

Here are some Blues fans on X rallying for the veteran centre-half to play:

One fan said: “If Thiago Silva doesn’t start then I’m done backing the coach.”

Another wrote: “Start Thiago Silva tomorrow.”

A third posted: “With the type of goals we’re conceding, I still don’t know why Thiago Silva is not starting matches since he’s fit. We’ve been atrocious at the back and many blamed Silva but it’s been worse since he’s out, we concede every freaking match.”

Another shared: “Thiago silva starts tomorrow and we have a game.”

A fifth supporter claimed: “CHELSEA NEED THIAGO SILVA, Is Pochettino making a mistake by dropping Thiago Silva? Chelsea’s defense is crumbling. The leadership void is obvious. Burnley debacle proves they need his experience. Do you agree he must play against Man United?”

Another said: “Thiago Silva is fit, let him start.”

Finally, one fan wrote: “Thiago silva has to come back in tomorrow.”
