‘Much better’: Pep Guardiola says £100k-p/w Man City player could return against Crystal Palace

Pep Guardiola has hinted that one Manchester City could make a return to action against Crystal Palace.

After beating Aston Villa 4-1 on Wednesday, the Citizens are back in action tomorrow for an early-afternoon Premier League clash against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Looking ahead to this game, the City boss has shared an update on the fitness of one player who has been out of action for a while.

Speaking in his latest press conference ahead of tomorrow’s match against Palace, Guardiola had this to say when asked about Ederson’s fitness.

He said: “Ederson is much better and maybe will be on the list.”

The Brazilian has been out of action with a muscle injury he picked up in the second half of City’s 1-1 draw against Liverpool last month.

Prior to that, the 30-year-old, who is picking up a weekly wage of £100k-per-week, had featured in all but one of City’s Premier League games.

Given how important Ederson has proved himself to be for the team in terms of being their first-choice goalkeeper, it will be a big positive to have him back in the squad in what is a key period of City’s season.

However, with Stefan Ortega making two saves in each of the Blues’ previous games against Arsenal and Villa, this could convince Guardiola to keep the German in the team for tomorrow’s game rather than get Ederson straight back in the starting XI.

Either way, with the Citizens still in the hunt to regain the three major titles, Guardiola will need as many of his players to be available and avoid picking up any injuries given how small their squad is and how many games they could play before the end of the season.
