Ian Wright predicts West Ham result after what he saw against Spurs

Ian Wright has predicted the result of West Ham’s crunch Premier League clash with Wolves after what he saw against Spurs.

No prizes for guessing who former Arsenal and West Ham star Ian Wright wanted to win when the Hammers played Spurs in midweek.

After the unfathomable collapse in the 4-3 defeat to Newcastle last weekend, West Ham bounced back with a 1-1 draw against Tottenham at the London Stadium.

Next up for David Moyes’ side in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon is a trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Wolves were beaten 2-0 by Aston Villa before being held to a 1-1 draw by Burnley in the last two games.

Joy of six now within West Ham’s grasp

Seventh placed West Ham currently sit three places and points above Wolves in the Premier League table.

That will be good enough to seal a fourth season of European football for West Ham if they can hold onto it.

There’s plenty to play for come Saturday as Wolves know a win will see them leapfrog the Hammers while also having a game in hand.

But victory for West Ham could see them jump above sixth-placed Man United going into the last seven games.

And Wright is backing one player in particular to make the difference – Jarrod Bowen.

Wright was on the Stick to Football Podcast alongside Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Jill Scott and Roy Keane as each gave their verdict on West Ham’s visit to Molinuex.

Neville kicked off the debate by predicting a 1-1 draw, with Carragher agreeing and stating: “It’s got 1-1 written all over it.”

Wright disagreed, though, predicting a 2-1 win for the Hammers, giving a special mention to Bowen.

“West Ham 2-1, Jarrod Bowen away from home,” Wright said.

Scott and Keane agreed with Wright, who highlighted West Ham’s attacking threat against Spurs in midweek.

“Did you see how many chances they missed (against Spurs),” Wright added.

Big injury problems for Wolves

West Ham will be without number on goalkeeper Alphonse Areola for the game while Nayef Aguerd is being assessed and has trained this week.

Wolves on the other hand are missing several star players and may even be without former Hammers fan favourite Craig Dawson.

If West Ham win by four goals they will leapfrog Man United by virtue of having score more than the Red Devils this season.

But should the Hammers win by one or two there’s every chance they could go above Man United on Sunday with Erik ten Hag’s side facing Liverpool.
