'Sensational': Michael Dawson says one Nottingham Forest player in particular really impressed him vs Fulham

Sky Sports pundit and former Nottingham Forest player Michael Dawson has admitted one player really caught his eye on Tuesday night.

After a difficult past month for Forest and Nuno Espirito Santo, the players were able to provide some relief over the last two games.

A draw on the weekend against Crystal Palace was backed up with a sensational win at the City Ground against Fulham.

It really was a performance which epitomised the atmosphere which the homes fans amid the club’s ongoing struggles against off-field matters.

Even Fulham midfielder Tom Cairney picked up on how good the atmosphere was as he claimed Forest do not get the credit they deserve for it.

Forest defender Andrew Omobamidele has also hailed the Forest fans for Tuesday night as they could play a huge role in the club’s survival.

But they face a seriously tough task on Sunday against a Tottenham Hotspur side who are eyeing Champions League qualification.

However, Nuno’s former side have shown they are susceptible to conceding goals with just one clean sheet kept since their visit to the City Ground in December.

Dawson wowed by 24-year-old against Fulham on Tuesday

A big game awaits Forest on Sunday in the capital, but some of the pressure will be taken off them on the back their recent results.

Forest’s season was never going to be defined on games like Tottenham away, however, they’ve given themselves some breathing room after taking four points from a possible six.

There were a number of positive displays on Tuesday night with Callum Hudson-Odoi receiving praise from some of his teammates after the game.

Chris Wood has been a player who has offered Forest with an awful lot this season having now found the back of the net 11 times in the Premier League.

And Forest will certainly be looking to the likes of Wood and Hudson-Odoi for inspiration in their remaining games.

However, another player who has stood-out this season is Morgan Gibbs-White and he was particularly impressive against the Cottagers.

Although questions may lie about the 24-year-old’s future with the summer transfer window approaching, he remains a key player for Forest right now.

And it is apparent Dawson was left impressed with what he saw on Tuesday night from the midfielder as he waxed lyrical about him on Sky Sports earlier today.

“That performance, certainly in the first half, was sensational. He’s been a great signing for them. Last year, he was player of the year, in my opinion.”

“But the first half, the way they played, they blew Fulham away and the front four were magnificent.”

Gibbs-White responded to Forest’s tifo after Fulham victory

Prior to kick-off, Forest fans displayed a tifo which read, ‘shut everything out and play your game’ whilst branding an image of Gibbs-White doing his goal celebration.

The 24-year-old was able to show off his celebration again after scoring and he hailed the Forest fans after the full-time whistle when speaking to the club’s website.

“It was, honestly, a really touching moment. Since I joined, the fans have been absolutely amazing,” he said.

“To see that was a touching moment. I knew I had to repay the favour. Luckily enough, I did. The boys got the three points in the end, and right now that is all that matters.”
