Nottingham Forest player ratings vs Tottenham, 32-year-old stars, one player gets 3/10

Nottingham Forest were beaten by Tottenham this evening in North London and here are our player ratings.

For 45 minutes it was a case of so far, so good once Forest had settled and they deservedly equalised through Chris Wood.

Alan Smith bemoaned that Forest had started the game a little negatively but they should have been in the lead when Wood struck a post.

Things were all a little simple for Tottenham in the second half and superb goals from Micky van de Ven and Pedro Porro gave the hosts the ascendency.

Forest will now have to go again next week when Wolves arrive at the City Ground and relegation is still in the balance.

It was another game where Forest are left to rue decisions of their own and the match officials. Here are our player ratings for the game.

Matz Sels – 8

What a signing this man has been and the £5 million that Forest paid looks extremely good value for money.

Sels was powerless to prevent the goals scored by Tottenham and produced three of four cracking pieces of goalkeeping.

Neco Williams – 5

This wasn’t a great game for the Wales performer who has looked solid in recent weeks when called upon.

The youngster was caught out on a number of occasions and was given a tough assignment by Timo Werner.

Andrew Omobamidele – 7

The Republic of Ireland defender is another nod towards the club’s recruitment team and he played very well again here.

Omobamidele looks like a sound performer and at 21-years-old, he’s going to have plenty of good days in a Forest shirt.

Murillo – 6

Very steady, although he won’t want to see his own goal back any time soon.

Murillo has been linked with a move to big Premier League clubs and he also tried a shot from 81 yards during this encounter.

Ola Aina – 6

Was up against Brennan Johnson for large parts of this game and coped reasonably well.

Aina does bring some solidity to the Forest defensive unit and ultimately this was another decent performance from the Nigerian.

Ryan Yates – 3

Poor from the get-go and it’s a complete mystery that Nuno Espirito Santo kept him on the pitch for 80 minutes.

Was sloppy in possession, committed four fouls in 13 minutes and produced an absolute disasterclass.

Danilo – 6

Another pretty decent showing from the Brazilian, although this one was perhaps a little unspectacular.

Linked up nicely with Morgan Gibbs-White but Tottenham did keep the pair pretty quiet.

Anthony Elanga – 6

His pace always causes teams some issues and he got back among the goal contributions with an assist for Chris Wood.

Was perhaps a little wasteful with his end product a little too often but the Sweden star did alright.

Morgan Gibbs-White – 6

The attacker was busy and always looking to trouble the Tottenham defence by putting them on the back foot.

Worryingly, Gibbs-White was substituted and was forced to ice his hamstring. Hopefully, it’s nothing serious.

Callum Hudson-Odoi – 6

Another positive showing for Hudson-Odoi but things didn’t really come off for him against Tottenham.

The Forest winger is a sound player though and he did enjoy a good tussle with Porro.

Chris Wood – 6

It’s difficult to give Wood any higher given the sitter that he was guilty of missing in the first half.

However, he did get another goal to his tally and he’s a striker currently in great form.

Substitutes

Divock Origi – 5

Nicolas Dominguez – 5

Gio Reyna – 6

Ibrahim Sangare – 6

Gonzalo Montiel – N/A
