'Dangerous opposition': Sky pundit gives score prediction for Sheffield Wednesday v Norwich City

Sheffield Wednesday host Norwich City in the Championship on Tuesday night.

Sheffield Wednesday return to Hillsborough on Tuesday evening following their 2-0 win against QPR last weekend.

Danny Rohl watched on as his side ended a four-game winless run with a confident and deserved win at Loftus Road, with Djeidi Gassama shining against QPR.

The gap to safety is now just one point, and a win against Norwich City could lift the Owls as high as 19th place of the Championship table, with five games including Norwich left to play.

Norwich City though are in good form right now.

They’ve lost just three league fixtures in 2024, beating Ipswich Town 1-0 in their last outing to find themselves in 6th place of the table.

Norwich City feels like a bit of a bogey club for a lot of teams in the Championship, with Sheffield Wednesday not immune.

The Owls, in their club history, have beaten Norwich City 24 times, losing 20 times, and drawing 16 times.

In the reverse fixture earlier this season, Sheffield Wednesday lost 3-1 at Carrow Road.

The last meeting at Hillsborough was during the 2020/21 Championship campaign with Norwich City winning 2-1 that day.

Sheffield Wednesday’s last home win against the Canaries was a 5-1 win on the final day of the 2017/18 campaign in which the Owls finished in 15th place of the table.

David Prutton gives Sheffield Wednesday vs Norwich City prediction

And giving his prediction for the upcoming clash between Sheffield Wednesday and Norwich City, former Owls midfielder and now Sky Sports pundit David Prutton wrote:

“Sheffield Wednesday took a massive win at QPR that I certainly wasn’t expecting. They are back to within a point of safety, and need to kick on and get a couple more wins.

“But Norwich will be riding high after their win over Ipswich. They are dangerous opposition for anyone, but I do feel like this will be a draw.”

Prutton predicts a 1-1 draw.

After a tough recent run of form, capped by a poor performance and result away at Middlesbrough at the start of the month, Rohl now needs to build on the QPR win.

Sheffield Wednesday finally have some wind back in their sails and some confidence back in the team and that’s what Rohl needs to find a way of carrying on against Norwich.

Though the Canaries will be one of Sheffield Wednesday’s toughest assignments of the season.

They’re ruthless at both ends of the pitch and eyeing up a top six finish, so they’ll certainly view this game against a lowly Wednesday as an absolute must-win.

Expect Rohl to retain the back-four formation that beat QPR and expect Sheffield Wednesday to be somewhere in between attacking and defensive; they won’t want to sit back too much against Norwich and be dominated throughout the 90 minutes.

But if Wednesday can pull off a 1-1 draw like Prutton predicts, it’ll certainly be a decent result for the Owls.
