Alasdair Gold claims everyone he’s spoken to at Tottenham is now saying the same thing about Timo Werner

People behind the scenes at Tottenham Hotspur are now all saying the same thing about Timo Werner.

The German signed on a short-term loan deal in the January transfer window from Bundesliga side RB Leizpig.

And it has been an impressive start to life at Tottenham for Timo Werner who had another big impact on the game on Sunday.

Ange Postecoglou‘s side were able to climb into the top four over the weekend with Aston Villa failing to beat Brentford.

Spurs loanee Sergio Reguilon had a big role to play in that as the Spaniard provided two of the Bees’ three assists at Villa Park.

And the Lilywhites were able to get the job done at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium against Nottingham Forest.

An almost perfect weekend for Spurs and their German loanee impressed once again with his contribution for the opening goal.

That was the second time in the space of two games which Werner had provided a teasing cross for Spurs’ opening goal.

He did the same last Tuesday against West Ham as Brennan Johnson poked home inside the opening five minutes.

These are the types of performances he needs ahead of a crunch few weeks for his future.

Werner has a lot of people talking behind the scenes at Spurs

Having joined in the January window on loan, there will have naturally been a few eyebrows raised over the signing.

Werner had spent some time at Chelsea where it did not exactly work out for the 28-year-old after his initial stint at Leipzig.

Here is a run down of Werner’s returns for RB Leipzig, Chelsea and Tottenham.

Annoyingly for the winger, the cross on the weekend will not go down as his assist as the ball was turned home by Forest defender Murillo.

But even Sky Sports’ Roy Keane praised the 28-year-old after the game suggesting he looks a real handful to play against.

Although there may have been opportunities for Werner to add to his tally with journalist Alasdair Gold stunned by his miss against Fulham, he is proving to be a solid signing.

Spurs have the option to make his stay permanent for a fee of £15m and they have until 14 June to activate that option.

It seems like the German is extremely happy to be playing at Spurs with his interview after the Forest game revealing his delight.

And speaking on the Gold & Guest Talk Tottenham podcast, Gold has revealed what people behind the scenes at Hotspur Way are saying about Werner.

“I’ve been speaking to a lot of people within the club about him, whether that’s, you know, his teammates, coaching staff, people just in various departments. They all say the same thing. Just what a really lovely down to earth guy is. There’s no ego there,” Gold said.

“He could be a guy that could be kind of ruined by that experience, but he’s not he’s just a really lovely, friendly, happy guy behind the scenes.”

Alan Brazil’s comments on Werner recently are stark contrast to what Keane said

After receiving a lot of praise for some of his performances recently, Werner was slammed by TalkSPORT host Alan Brazil.

Following the game against West Ham where the 28-year-old chalked up an assist for Johnson’s goal, Brazil took aim at the forward.

“[Take off] Any of the wide players. Any one of the wide players… take off,” he said after Postecoglou withdrew James Maddison over the likes of Werner.

“I’m sorry, but Werner for me may as well sit here [in the studio]. Sorry, I don’t want to be nasty, just come and sit here. Nowhere near good enough.”
