'Something special': Colin Fray hails Nottingham Forest star who nearly did something ridiculous vs Tottenham

Nottingham Forest lost 3-1 to Tottenham at the weekend and the club’s Premier League status still isn’t certain for next season.

The Reds gave a good account of themselves for 45 minutes in North London but succumbed to two really good goals in the second half.

Micky van de Ven and Pedro Porro scored the two second-half goals and Forest were left to rue some missed opportunities – most notably in the first half.

Gary Lineker critiqued Chris Wood for one particular miss and Forest also had other chances to get something from the game against Tottenham.

Before Wood missed his golden chance, Lewis McGugan felt that Ryan Yates should have done better in front of goal too.

Wood can perhaps be forgiven on the basis that he’s got 12 Premier League goals to his name this season – but he will hope to park this one quickly.

One Forest player almost scored a remarkable long-range effort against Tottenham and Colin Fray couldn’t quite believe what he was seeing.

Colin Fray stunned by something Nottingham Forest player tried vs Tottenham

Well, this was almost a magic moment. Forest were holding Tottenham during the opinion 10 minutes and central defender Murillo decided to try something audacious.

The central defender took aim from 81 yards and it’s claimed that it would have been one of the longest goals in the history of the Premier League had it gone in.

With Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario off of his line, Murillo took aim and his effort only just bounced wide of the stopper’s right-hand post.

Fray was wowed by the bold move made by Murillo and it would appear as though one day, one of these ambitious efforts is going to earn Forest a goal.

The commentator said on BBC Radio Nottingham: “That did not miss by much! That was nearly something very special.”

Can Forest keep hold of Murillo this summer?

Right now, this is proving to be the million-dollar question and Murillo is going to be one player heavily linked with a move away from the City Ground.

Before he signed for Forest in the summer, Manchester City had looked into the possibility of landing Muirllo but chose other options instead.

It’s already been suggested thatfour Premier League clubs are looking at Murillo and there is a possibility that the Reds might have to sell.

Forest will have FFP hanging over their head still in the summer. As a result, the Reds may need a quick sale of one of their star players to ensure they avoid a further points deduction.

It would be great to think that Forest could keep Murillo for another season – but ultimately it does feel as though he could leave.

The 21-year-old has been ever-present since making his debut in the Premier League in October and if he does leave a replacement would need to be sought.
