'Changed the whole dynamic': Journalist hails just one man as Sheffield Wednesday draw vs Norwich

Sheffield Wednesday drew 2-2 with Norwich City in the Championship on Tuesday night.

Sheffield Wednesday welcomed Norwich City for an exciting Championship clash under the Hillsborough lights on Tuesday.

Despite Norwich’s positive form in 2024, with just three league defeats since the turn of the year, there was a sense of optimism among the Owls faithful.

After a positive 2-0 win at QPR last weekend, Sheffield Wednesday took momentum and confidence into the game vs Norwich.

But Danny Rohl‘s side were quickly humbled.

Wednesday were two goals behind within 15 minutes, then showing no signs of a comeback before the break.

Rohl then made a dramatic quadruple change at the break, and the Owls mounted a comeback.

From two corners, Wednesday scored twice, through Michael Ihiekwe and then Michael Smith, going on to take a monumental point against a Norwich side who’ll be bitterly disappointed.

Once again, there’s positives and negatives to take from the performance and from Rohl, who showed two sides of his game tonight.

The first half arguably exposed an over-eagerness to play out from the back with a team not capable of doing so efficienitly.

But the half-time changes and the second half performance highlighted Rohl’s adaptability and his and his players’ sheer belief.

Alan Biggs gave a verdict of the whole performance at full-time and highlighted Rohl’s positive changes, posting on X:

Wednesday have one thing, and they had it before Danny Rohl

There were certainly mistakes in the game vs Norwich City.

And Sheffield Wednesday were punished for their mistakes in the first half, passing out from the back and generally having a lack of organisation at the back.

But Wednesday showed that unwavering belief that they seem to have had long before Rohl arrived at the club.

That, combined with Rohl learning on the job and making some shrewd changes at half-time and a change of shape too, allowed the Owls to get back into the game vs Norwich.

Few gave them a prayer after Norwich dominated so much in the first half, and David Wagner will rue his side’s lack of cutting edge.

Like Biggs says, precious and priceless points for Wednesday on Tuesday night.

The Owls now sit in 22nd place of the table with Huddersfield Town ahead in 21st on goal difference.

Sheffield Wednesday host Stoke City this weekend.
