'Whispers of unhappiness': Sources are not ruling out Chelsea man leaving this summer - journalist

There could be quite a few big exits at Chelsea this summer.

For example, the futures of Thiago Silva, Raheem Sterling and Conor Gallagher are all currently up in the air.

Silva’s contract is up at the end of the season, Sterling has been linked with a move to MLS and Gallagher could find himself in a similar situation to Silva next term.

His deal expires in 2025, meaning that Chelsea could be forced to sell him before then so that he does not become a free agent.

Once again, then, there could be a lot of change at Chelsea this summer.

Who else could follow the above names out of Chelsea?

Sitting ninth in the table, Chelsea fans would probably be happy to see the back of half this team.

That includes the manager Mauricio Pochettino, who has not been a success since arriving at Stamford Bridge.

The Argentine is under pressure because of Chelsea’s bad results, but it actually looks like he could jump before he is pushed.

According to journalist Simon Phillips, it is not impossible that Pochettino walks away from the Blues’ project, with there being some whispers about the 52-year-old being unhappy.

On his Substack, Phillips said: “Sources are also not ruling out Pochettino walking away, there’s some whispers of unhappiness from his camp, although we have not been able to have that fully confirmed as of yet.”

Who could replace Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea if he walks?

Chelsea could actually have quite a few managers to choose from if Pochettino does decide to call it quits.

You have the likes of Hansi Flick and Thomas Tuchel who will be available in the summer, though the latter returning to Stamford Bridge is probably unlikely.

All things considered, Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim is probably the man you would tip to join Chelsea if he does not replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

Amorim is reportedly a manager who Chelsea have considered in the past, so he is clearly someone who has admirers at the club.
