Nottingham Forest now have a player who could be worth at least £30 million

The Nottingham Forest squad will likely look completely different next season regardless of whether the club remains in the Premier League or not.

If the club does manage to survive, Nuno Espirito Santo will want to work with a much smaller group of players than what he has now.

Should relegation be confirmed a number of top stars will likely depart and emphasis might be placed on younger players to play senior football.

One player who could leave no matter what happens to Forest is central defender Murillo.

The Brazilian signed for the Reds last summer for a small £10.4 million fee and frankly, he was an unknown quantity to most supporters.

However, he has been ever-present in the team since making his debut in October against Brentford and he’s growing with every game.

Four Premier League clubs have shown interest in signing Murillo at the end of the season – with Forest possibly needing to sell.

Manchester City wanted Murillo before Forest took the punt on him and now he might be worth an absolute fortune to the Reds.

Data explains how much Murillo could now be worth to Nottingham Forest

A new document has been released today by the CIES Football Observatory Weekly Post and Forest star Murillo is included.

They have presented the world’s top 100 players who have not yet turned 23 and whose transfer value has increased the most in the last six months.

Lamine Yamal, the Barcelona forward, sits top of the list, with Joao Neves of Benfica and Girona defender Savio Moreira in second and third respectively.

It’s claimed that the value of Murillo has increased by almost £20 million in the last six months now making him a £30 million player.

Murillo is still relatively new to men’s football but he has now made 30 appearances for Forest during the 2023/24 campaign.

This date does make for interesting reading and if Forest stay up, they have every right to ask for a top price for Murillo.

Forest face challenge should defender leave

Murillo going in the summer might be a foregone conclusion. With FFP still lurking in the background, he is one player that will fetch a hefty sum.

However, selling him isn’t a major problem if the money is reinvested properly and the club does due diligence to get a replacement.

Forest plucked Murillo as an unknown quantity from South America and that’s an area of the world where the club has enjoyed transfer success.

Danilo is another player who was signed from Brazil and he too has made quite an impact at the City Ground.

It’s always sad when any club has to sell their top players but for a club like Forest in the Premier League, it will always happen.

The challenge is replacing them adequately and hopefully, Forest already have a list of potential targets ready to step into the breach for Murillo.
