Forgotten Xisco Munoz signing pictured in Sheffield Wednesday training after six-month absence

A forgotten Sheffield Wednesday player has now been spotted back in first-team training.

Much of the first half of this season, and of the Xisco Munoz era was forgettable.

The former Watford boss came and went in a frenzy; his tenure doomed from the off and tarred by Dejphon Chansiri‘s outbursts and antics.

Munoz left as the worst-ever Sheffield Wednesday manager, statistically speaking, with no wins (in full-time) in 12 games at the helm.

Now, Munoz is trying to get his Slovakian outfit DAC Streda side into the European Conference League.

But Danny Rohl is still picking up the pieces from Munoz’s horror spell at Hillsborough.

Munoz oversaw a number of signings last summer, or at least he was in charge when the club signed them.

Reece James arrived shortly before Munoz did.

But the Owls brought in another horde of players last summer; all of which started poorly along with the rest of the team, but names like Djeidi Gassama, Anthony Musaba, Di’Shon Bernard, and Pol Valentin have managed to prevail under Rohl.

Another signing Sheffield Wednesday man last summer was Juan Delgado.

The Chilean international joined on a free transfer, reuniting with Munoz whom he played under in Spain previously.

The 31-year-old has featured 10 times in the Championship for Wednesday, scoring once in the 4-2 defeat vs Hull City way back in August.

But he’s not featured since the start of October.

Delgado underwent surgery on a hip injury and has been sidelined since.

But the 13-cap Chilean appears to be on the comeback trail; he can’t feature for Sheffield Wednesday this season as the Owls now have a 25-man squad list.

Delgado posted a picture of him in first-team training on Thursday:

Danny Rohl can work his magic on Juan Delgado

Like with so many others, fans would back Rohl to get the best out of Delgado.

He’s got good experience on the club and international stage, having played with names like Alexis Sanchez for Chile.

And he showed glimpses of a very lively and also versatile player during his early Wednesday days, though he’s been sidelined for so long that he’s almost been forgotten.

But Rohl won’t have forgotten and he may have big plans for Delgado who is under contract until the summer of 2025.

A right-back by trade, but also able to play on the wing, Delgado feels like a very similar player to Valentin, and the pair scould share the role in tandem next season.

Sheffield Wednesday face Stoke City in the Championship this weekend.
