Rio Ferdinand absolutely stunned by one statistic he's noticed involving Manchester United today

Manchester United have played out a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth in Saturday’s late Premier League kick-off.

Erik ten Hag’s Red Devils delivered yet another below-par performance that could’ve easily seen the hosts secure all three points.

A series of defensive errors saw Manchester United concede the first goal of the match as Dominic Solanke netted in the 16th minute.

However, the Red Devils equalised in the 31st minute as Alejandro Garnacho set Bruno Fernandes up in the box to take a touch and net on the half-volley.

It didn’t take long for Bournemouth to cut through the Man United defence again though, Justin Kluivert getting plenty of space and time to drive into the area and fire home.

Old Trafford icon Rio Ferdinand was stunned to see just how many efforts on goal the Red Devils allowed the Cherries to have in the opening 45 minutes.

Manchester United stumble over the line for point at Bournemouth

Man United did manage to find a way back into the game in the second half, however, with Fernandes converting a penalty after Adam Smith was penalised for a handball in the box.

The game finished 2-2 despite a controversial late decision which denied Bournemouth the chance to potentially get a third from the penalty spot.

Willy Kambwala committed a foul on Ryan Christie with virtually the last kick of the game, and referee Tony Harrington initially awarded a spot kick.

However, VAR Jarred Gillett ruled it out as it was adjudged that Kambwala fouled Christie outside the penalty box.

The Cherries got a free kick, but weren’t able to make the most of it, and so they shared the spoils with Ten Hag’s Red Devils.

Man United were lucky to escape the Vitality Stadium with a point, and another disappointing display and result certainly won’t help when it comes to Ten Hag’s future at the club.

The Red Devils are now seventh in the table on 50 points, level with Newcastle but with a lesser goal difference.

Up next for Man United is the FA Cup semi-final meeting with Coventry City next Sunday.
