'Fake news': There's only one manager who Liverpool want, all the other names are false - journalist

Liverpool’s quest to find a new manager is continuing and it looks like it’s only going towards one man at the moment.

The Reds lost at the weekend to put a major dent in their title hopes but off the field, work is continuing in terms of finding a replacement for Jurgen Klopp.

As we all know, Xabi Alonso ruled himself out of the running for the job and he won the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen yesterday, further enhancing his reputation in the game.

Alonso’s decision has left the race for the Liverpool job wide open.

But according tojournalist Pedro Sepulveda, there is only one man – Ruben Amorim – who Liverpool are interesting in bringing in as it stands.

Liverpool only interested in appointing Ruben Amorim

According to the respected Portuguese journalist, all the other names being thrown into the hat when it comes to Liverpool are, as he calls them, ‘fake news’.

Instead, the journalist has claimed that Amorim is the only name on Liverpool’s list right now and that negotiations are continuing to try and get a deal done.

Who else is being linked with being the next Liverpool manager?

Along with Amorim, other names are being linked with a move to Anfield as well.

The latest name to get a mention has come over the weekend, in the form of former Bayern Munich manager, Niko Kovac. The 52-year-old is out of work at the moment but has a decent reputation in Europe after winning a double with Bayern.

Other names to have been mentioned include Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi and Germany coach, Julian Nagelsmann.

While beyond those names, Bologna’s Thiago Motta has also caught the eye of people at Anfield and beyond.

However, it does look like Amorim is the man for Liverpool as it stands right now.

Liverpool fans, then, will be waiting for some more confirmation as time ticks by in the coming weeks.
