"Stunning": Alan Shearer says Liverpool will still be having nightmares about £20m Crystal Palace player

Following the Crystal Palace triumph at Anfield last weekend, Alan Shearer has singled out a few players for praise.

Arguably Oliver Glasner‘s era has only just begun after a 1-0 win over Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side, much to his visible disbelief.

Crystal Palace were magnificent in defence and potentially just as good going forward with Eberechi Eze scoring the deciding goal between the two sides.

After the game, the Eagles stars who were soaring against the Reds have been given their flowers and rightly so.

Now Alan Shearer is the latest to partake in revelling over some of the best players for Palace during this win, as he singled out one £20m player.

Alan Shearer picks out Dean Henderson among top four Crystal Palace players vs Liverpool

For Shearer, there were four Palace players worthy of being named in his Premier League team of the week.

First up was the goalkeeper, Dean Henderson who enjoyed a phenomenal outing for the Eagles against Liverpool as he kept his first clean sheet for the club.

Shearer said: “Made some stunning reaction saves to preserve his clean sheet. Liverpool will still be wondering how he kept some of those shots out.”

Henderson has proven a lot of people wrong with his recent form which will have him locked in as the starter next season.

But he couldn’t have done it alone which is why a handful of his teammates also deserve praise.

One who deserved inclusion was Joachim Andersen who was named in the BBC Team of the Week by Garth Crooks.

Who else did Shearer put in his Team of the Week?

Other than Henderson, Shearer had three other Palace players in his team, here’s who.

The second name on his teamsheet which belongs to Glasner was Tyrick Mitchell who assisted the winning goal.

He explained why: “Subdued Mohamed Salah. Even when the Egyptian seemed certain to score at close range, Mitchell appeared out of nowhere to block his shot. He capped off a fine display with an assist for the decisive goal.”

The third was the magnificent Adam Wharton who looks more like a bargain every week.

“Absolutely outstanding. Rarely lost the ball and disrupted Liverpool on so many occasions. He ran the midfield at Anfield.”, Shearer explained.

The final inclusion was Eze, with Shearer saying: “Liverpool didn’t know how to stop him. Brilliant composure for his goal and he caused havoc for their backline throughout the match.”

Palace were simply too good to deny against Liverpool and long may it continue under Glasner.
