"See what happens": £15m player Oliver Glasner loves now suggests he would consider joining Crystal Palace

After a number of transfer rumours regarding Crystal Palace began to circulate, one target for Oliver Glasner has now been asked about the speculation.

The Austrian will be delighted with his players after Sunday’s heroic 1-0 win over Liverpool at Anfield.

However, there are still gaps in the squad which need to be filled by Dougie Freedman – for example, upgrades on the likes of Jeffrey Schlupp and Joel Ward would not go amiss.

The latter has been filing in at centre-back recently, and one player who could take that spot next season has now commented on interest from Crystal Palace

Danilho Doekhi leaves door open to Crystal Palace move

Well – according to Football Insider – Danilho Doekhi impressed Oliver Glasner during his time managing in the Bundesliga, and the man from Salzburg wants Freedman to sign the Union Berlin No.5 this summer.

We are expected to face competition from Fulham in the battle to sign the Dutchman.

German news outlet BILD have now directly asked Doekhi about interest from Crystal Palace and Fulham, where the central defender did not exactly pour cold water over the rumours, leaving the door open to a summer move.

The 25-year-old said: “I’m concentrating on the last games with the club. My full focus is on that. We’ll see what happens in the summer, but I’m focused on the here and now with Union.”

Doekhi has made 19 appearances in the Bundesliga so far this season, scoring two goals.

BILD mention that Union Berlin value the man from Rotterdam at €17m (£15m).

Oliver Glasner needs a new central defender

The likes of Ward and Nathaniel Clyne are coping at centre-back well after Chris Richards and Marc Guehi suffered injuries.

However, this is not a sustainable solution, and we will surely be found out next season if the tactic of playing full-backs as central defenders becomes a regular occurrence.

Therefore, Glasner needs a centre-back.

The 49-year-old and Freedman seem all too aware of this, in fairness, amid links to several central defenders such as Ronnie Edwards, Cristhian Mosquera and Doekhi.

Hopefully, some depth can be added to the centre-back department this summer, with that area now becoming hugely important after Glasner introduced his five-at-the-back system.
