Former Sheffield Wednesday boss Darren Moore has just proved Chansiri right about one thing - opinion

As far as controversial football club owners go, Dejphon Chansiri at Sheffield Wednesday is right up there.

Chansiri has made headlines throughout this season.

His running of the club and his seemingly immature club statements aimed at the loyal Sheffield Wednesday fans has led to the Owls faithful launching their strongest protest against the regime yet.

The 1867 Group has formed and has staged multiple protests now, with a growing number of supporters too.

But Chansiri, for all that he’s got wrong at Hillsborough in the last year or so, seems to have made one good call.

Sheffield Wednesday managers in the last 12 months

Sheffield Wednesday are no strangers to hiring and firing managers.

But after Darren Moore guided the Owls to promotion from League One, after little over two full seasons in charge, it looked like there was some stability arriving at the club.

Moore eventually left Sheffield Wednesday by mutual consent; just 47 days before this current Championship campaign began.

Xisco Munoz replaced Moore and lasted only 12 games, leaving with no wins making him the worst-ever Sheffield Wednesday manager.

Danny Rohl later replaced Munoz after being overlooked by Chansiri initially after Moore left.

Rohl has 13 wins from 35 games in charge of the Owls and has amassed 44 points in the Championship so far, though Wednesday still sit in 23rd place of the table and one point adrift.

Moore took a few months out of the game following his Sheffield Wednesday tenure.

But he returned with Huddersfield Town in the September, jumping straight into the thick of it, but not lasting very long.

Moore lasted just 23 games at Huddersfield, winning only three.

After his sacking, Moore wasted even less time in getting back into the dugout, penning a five-and-a-half year contract with League One Port Vale.

But in 15 games at Vale, Moore has two wins to his name, with his side three points adrift in League One with two games left to play, following a 2-1 defeat vs Wycombe Wanderers on Tuesday night.

Dejphon Chansiri was right about Darren Moore

According to Chansiri, he and Moore parted company because Moore wanted a new and much-improved contract.

Chansiri said he was willing to negotiate but that the fees Moore was asking for were simply too high, though Moore denied their feud being about money.

So Chansiri clearly didn’t hold Moore in that high regards, given that he was willing to let him go just six weeks before the new season started.

And Moore’s fall from grace following his Wednesday exit perhaps proves that; should Moore have stayed in charge this season, the Owls might already be down and out.

Rohl has worked out great for Sheffield Wednesday, and whilst the club and fans still owe a lot to Moore, five wins to his name with two different clubs this season suggests that he’s not cut out for the Championship.
