Tottenham told to forget about signing Swedish talent alongside Lucas Bergvall

Tottenham Hotspur will add a new face to the Swedish ranks at the club this summer as Lucas Bergvall prepares to arrive.

The January transfer window had only just closed when Tottenham pounced to snap up Bergvall.

The Djurgarden wonderkid looked set for Barcelona but Tottenham hijacked the deal and teed up a deal to bring Bergvall in this summer.

Bergvall will now join forces with Dejan Kulusevski and there is more of a connection than them just being Swedish.

Bergvall and Kulusevski even started at the same club in Sweden, IF Brommapojkarna, and now reunite at Tottenham.

The hope is that the pair will strike up an exciting connection at Tottenham, but there have been rumours surrounding another Swede joining them in North London…

Hugo Larsson to Tottenham ruled out

Football Transfers reported last week that Tottenham are ‘intensifying’ efforts to sign Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Hugo Larsson.

Liverpool and Newcastle United were also mentioned as being in the race but Tottenham were thought to be in front.

Larsson is an international teammate of Kulusevski and could have bolstered the Swedish contingent at the club even further.

However, Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg now claims that Frankfurt have decided that Larsson is ‘definitely’ not for sale.

Larsson is considered to be a key player at Frankfurt and they have no plans to let him leave despite Tottenham’s efforts.

Who is Tottenham target Larsson?

Larsson hails from Svarte and started his career with local side SoGK Charlo before joining the Malmo ranks in 2016.

The teenager rose through the ranks and made his debut in 2022.

Larsson ended up making 61 appearances for Frankfurt, bagging three goals and four assists in the process.

The 19-year-old cost Frankfurt around €11.5million (£10million) last summer as he landed his big move to Germany.

Frankfurt’s Markus Krosche hailed Larsson as a player with ‘enormous potential’ last year and has picked up two goals and one assist in 24 games this season.

Larsson has shown the potential to play as a central midfielder or holding player and has even been used further forward and out wide at times.

Tottenham may well have seen Larsson as a versatile midfield option and the idea of pairing him up with Bergvall could have been hugely exciting.

Yet unless Frankfurt have a big change of heart, it sounds like a summer deal will not be happening this summer.
