‘This season’: Rio Ferdinand claims Arsenal have an attacker who’s been even better than Leroy Sane

Bayern Munich may have beaten Arsenal on Wednesday evening, but that isn’t to say that they’re streets ahead of the Gunners.

Indeed, according to Jamie Carragher, Arsenal are still the better team, and while that’s a point that is up for debate, it has to be said that there are some Arsenal players who’d surely get into the Bayern Munich team.

Speaking to TNT Sports on TikTok, Rio Ferdinand has been going through the two squads player-for-player comparing each Arsenal player with their Arsenal counter-part.

As you may imagine, there are plenty of controversial takes from Ferdinand, and when discussing the attacking options these two teams have, the pundit made an interesting claim.

Rio Ferdinand says Arsenal have an attacker better than Leroy Sane

Ferdinand was forced to pick between Leroy Sane and Bukayo Saka, and he chose the Englishman.

“Saka or Sane?” Ferdinand was asked.

“This season? Saka,” Ferdinand said.

Bukayo Saka vs Leroy Sane

This is going to be a very controversial comparison.

Saka and Sane have very differing careers.

Sane has been there and done it all with multiple clubs, he’s won the Premier League and Bundesliga on numerous occasions with Man City and Bayern Munich, while Saka is yet to really get his silverware collection started.

Sane was electric when he was in the Premier League, but Saka has really come into his own as a player over the past two years, so, and he’s matching the sort of numbers Sane put up when he was at Man City.

As Ferdinand says, Saka has probably been the better player between the two this season, but in terms of their overall careers, Sane may have to be considered ahead of Saka in terms of peak ability as well as success.

Perhaps in years to come, Saka will be able to win the same sort of silverware Sane has in recent times.
