"What a revelation": Alan Shearer says one Crystal Palace player put on a "masterclass" vs West Ham

Alan Shearer was really impressed by what he saw Crystal Palace do over the weekend, now he’s praised two players who shone.

For Oliver Glasner, the performance against West Ham will have been delightful and the biggest display of the season to date.

It was only last week we said that about the Liverpool win, but to score five and only concede two silly goals, it’s a huge statement.

Many thought that Crystal Palace might have to limp over the line this season, but now this looks silly.

Glasner has got his Eagles firing and if anything he’ll be wishing that the season was double in length as it’ll end too soon in this form.

Now, two players have been singled out by pundit and Premier League legend Alan Shearer for being impressive.

Alan Shearer raves over Jean-Philippe Mateta

After a weekend in which Palace were arguably the league’s standout team, Shearer praised two of Glasner’s team’s standout players.

Writing his team of the week for the Premier League website, Shearer first picked one player who grabbed a brace, Jean-Philippe Mateta.

“A centre-forward masterclass, scoring two terrific goals that any striker would be proud of. What a revelation he’s been under Oliver Glasner.”

Shearer has obviously been blown away by the performance of Mateta who has now scored more goals in eight games under Glasner (6) than he had in any previous full season at the club (5).

While Mateta was excellent, he wasn’t the only player to be lauded as Shearer had a second name to pick out.

Shearer also praises Crystal Palace gem Eberechi Eze

Shearer also couldn’t help but laud the display of Eberechi Eze who scored and assisted in the win against West Ham.

This made it three goals and two assists in seven games under Glasner as he continues his incredible personal season.

Shearer wrote: “There’s nothing he can’t do at the moment! An incredible goal and a brilliant assist. What a performance.”

Arguably, Michael Olise was also unlucky to miss out on being praised, but out of the two, Eze was phenomenal and the words from Shearer are much deserved.
