Tottenham’s first summer signing now set to be made official with £17m agreement accepted by Ange Postecoglou

Tottenham Hotspur are now expected to secure their first summer signing following the conclusion of the current season.

The summer transfer window is going to be the opportunity Ange Postecoglou has been waiting for after watching his side struggle in recent months.

After starting the season off in stunning fashion, Tottenham‘s form has dramatically fallen off as their Champions League charge has taken a real battering.

With the season fizzling out for Tottenham with just over a week to go now, it seems Tottenham are firmly looking at the upcoming summer window.

it is now being claimed that Tottenham have already accepted the terms proposed by a club for one of their midfielders.

And now the transfer is expected to be made official when the season ends with the player keen on the proposed move.

Tottenham already have first signing lined up for the summer

Going back just a matter of weeks, it would have been presumed that Tottenham’s first signing of the summer would have been Timo Werner.

The German made a bright start to his loan deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but he has left a lot of goals on the pitch despite his decent return.

There was the expectation that the 28-year-old would be signed permanently at the end of his loan deal.

However, there will be a lot more question marks over his future now as his injury looks set to keep him out for a period of time.

According to Aksam, Tottenham have accepted the conditions proposed by Fenerbahce for midfielder Sebastian Szymanski.

It is claimed the Turkish giants are looking for a €20m (£17m) fee and Spurs have offered a package with various bonuses.

The 25-year-old Poland international is said to be keen on making the move to the Lilywhites with the deal expected to be concluded after the season ends.

It is not just Tottenham who have shown an interest with nine clubs believed to have been interested in Szymanski.

James Maddison has played himself out of a guaranteed spot at Tottenham

After signing in the summer, James Maddison‘s early season form looked as if he will have been the first name on Postecoglou’s teamsheet.

The midfielder’s poor form has gone hand in hand with Tottenham’s struggles in recent months.

Spurs have not looked like the same team since Maddison’s injury and it has been apparent that Postecoglou could have done with a player to come in for the England international.

Some may argue Giovani Lo Celso could have been just that player, however, it looks like Spurs are now looking to bring in a player who meets that requirement ahead of the summer.

Szymanski has returned 19 goals and assists this season and could well prove an influential member of the squad with European football expected to be on offer.
