"That's my goal": Joachim Andersen sets "amazing" Crystal Palace target for Premier League next season

In an exclusive interview, Joachim Andersen has set his target for where Crystal Palace can finish in the Premier League next season.

Crystal Palace right now are a far different team to the one which many have become used to in recent years with Oliver Glasner making a world of difference.

Immaculate form in recent weeks has seen Palace rise up the Premier League table, with several players who’d fit in at any team in the league.

Because of this, quite rightly, confidence is incredibly high at Selhurst Park right now.

Now, Joachim Andersen has epitomised this very confidence as he’s set his goals for the 2024-25 season.

Joachim Andersen sets ambitious Crystal Palace goal

During an exclusive interview with The Standard’s Dom Smith, Andersen was discussing everything Palace. In doing so, he touched upon his ambitions going forward.

“I’m hoping we get up around the top seven or eight — that’s my goal,” said Andersen.

“Football can go fast, look at Aston Villa,” he continued.

“They were almost relegated four years ago, now they’re in the Champions League.

“If Villa can do it, everyone can do it. I think we have a really promising future.

“We have a young squad, so we need someone to push us. Next season, with our best players available, this team can do some really amazing things.”

Andersen is spot on, this Palace side is amazing and it’s even more remarkable that it’s been built on a fairly cheap budget with Andersen costing just £15m.

Under Oliver Glasner, this is absolutely possible

For Palace, the ambition to finish in the top seven or eight is absolutely spot on as Glasner has shown it’s possible.

This season for example saw Palace near relegation when the Austrian arrived, only to be a win away from potentially finishing 10th this Sunday.

Palace is only 11 points behind eighth as well, which is incredible considering how bad the first two-thirds of the season was.

If Glasner can improve the squad and maintain the key aspects of this current side over the summer, there’s no reason Andersen’s ambition cannot be achieved.

It’s an exciting time, and it’s only right that ambitions are so high.
