"Can't promise anything": Joachim Andersen now shares interesting update on his future at Crystal Palace

This summer is expected to see a few big-money departures for Crystal Palace, but now one man has shared an update on his future.

Oliver Glasner will have his fingers and toes crossed over the hope that he doesn’t see his Crystal Palace side raided this summer.

The Austrian manager will have to put up with constant links away for some of his very best players through the summer with Michael Olise already heavily linked with a move away.

Marc Guehi and Eberechi Eze are the other two who are expected to be the subject of huge bids this summer.

But Joachim Andersen is a fourth who always seems to attract interest, now he’s shared an interesting update on his future.

Joachim Andersen on his future at Palace

In an exclusive interview with The Standard, Andersen has been discussing all things Palace.

Among the topics was his own future to which he had an interesting update, claiming he’s happy to stay.

“I have been linked with several clubs, but nothing ever happened. If there’s nothing concrete, it doesn’t matter. I signed a three-year contract [until 2026], so I guess I’m still at Palace [next season].

“I love it a lot here. I think the gaffer is really good and we have a good team. If we can take that into next season, of course, I’m happy to stay.”

That being said, Andersen also added a warning that nothing can be certain in football but that if Palace are playing at this level, he’d be happy to stay.

“I’m an ambitious player. I want to play with the best, at the highest level. If I can do that with Palace, I’m happy to. But in football, you never know, so you can’t promise anything.”

With Guehi likely to leave, Palace must hold onto Andersen as losing both could be catastrophic for the summer and leave Dougie Freedman with lots of work to do.

Andersen can be the foundation for Glasner

This summer for Glasner will be all about building the team into one he thinks can play this impressive style for an entire campaign.

This has already seen several centre-backs linked, but all of them are younger players who would be arriving with some development needed.

That’s exactly why Andersen is so important as he can be the one constant, experienced head in that backline to guide the others.

With the captain’s armband also being his when Ward isn’t playing, it’s hard to see him leaving this summer. He seems too embedded in the club.
