‘A possibility’: Fabrizio Romano says Leeds could sign £45m midfielder this summer

Leeds United could be a Premier League club again come Sunday evening.

The Whites could be back in the promised land if they manage to beat Southampton this weekend at Wembley, and if Leeds go up, they’ll have a big summer ahead of them.

Indeed, promotion to the Premier League brings about untold riches, and big transfers could be on the horizon at Elland Road.

Speaking to JD Football, Fabrizio Romano has been discussing Kalvin Phillips’ future after a disappointing loan spell at West Ham, and he says that a move back to Leeds could be on the cards for Romano this summer.

Kalvin Phillips could return to Leeds

Romano stated that a move back to Leeds is a possibility for Phillips.

“Kalvin will leave,” Romano said.

“Where do you think he’s going to go back to Leeds?” The journalist was asked.

“It depends, let’s see what happens with Leeds. Yeah, let’s see what happens with Leeds, it’s a possibility,” Romano said.

Leeds return would be perfect for Phillips

Phillips is a player that is bereft of confidence at the moment, and a return to Elland Road could be just what he needs.

Indeed, Leeds fans love Phillips as if he’s a member of their own family, and a return to West Yorkshire could be just what the midfielder needs to rediscover his confidence and his form.

Let’s not forget, during his first spell at Leeds, Phillips was establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s best midfielders, hence why he got his move to Manchester City, and while that hasn’t gone to plan, the talent is still in there waiting to be unlocked.

Of course, Leeds probably won’t be able to sign the £45m man unless they’re back in the Premier League next season, but if the Whites do manage to win on Sunday, don’t be shocked if Phillips is back at Leeds before too long.
