Kyle Walker names three of the best players he ever played with a Tottenham including ‘underrated’ defender

Former Tottenham Hotspur right-back Kyle Walker has now revealed his top three teammates from his time in north London.

Having left the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium back in 2017, Walker has gone on to win just about everything there is in club football.

That was not the case in north London with the full-back failing to get his hands on any silverware, however, he was part of one of the best Spurs sides in recent history.

Playing under a number of managers across his eight years at the club, Walker played alongside a number of top quality players despite the club’s struggles in lifting silverware.

One of those players being the club’s record goalscorer, Harry Kane, but the England captain was not even mentioned when Walker listed three of his top Spurs teammates.

Kyle Walker says one of his Spurs teammates was massively ‘underrated’

Walker has established himself as one of the top full-backs in the history of the Premier League having now won six titles with City.

It is only now, having signed Pedro Porro, that it feels like Spurs have finally found their long-term successor for Walker.

The England full-back made a name for himself during his time at Spurs and earned the £50m move to the Etihad on the back of his 229 appearances for the Lilywhites.

During his time at Spurs, he was able to play in one Champions League campaign, but it was three players who he played with long before the 2016/17 campaign which he held in such high regard.

Speaking on the You’ll Never Beat Kyle Walker podcast, the 34-year-old spoke about who he considered as the best players who he played alongside at Spurs.

“I have played with a lot of great players, at Tottenham, Gareth Bale, Luka Modric,” he said.

“I think Ledley King was so underrated, for Henry to say he was the best player that he’s played against, you have got to be doing something right and for me, he is a very underrated player.”

Harry Kane and Mousa Dembele miss Kyle Walker’s list

Perhaps the biggest surprise to miss the England defender’s list in the captain of the national side, Kane.

Walker played a number of seasons alongside Kane who was still performing at such a high level despite it being the early stages of his career.

And even now, Walker is able to play alongside Kane during their time together with the England camp.

However, current and former Spurs players have often named Mousa Dembele as one of the best players they have ever played alongside.

So it is surprising to hear neither of those two made the cut, but the quality of the three players who he listed cannot be denied.
