An awkward moment between Jennifer Lopez and her co-star Sterling K Brown is the latest in a series of hard-to-watch clips of the pair on their recent press run.
Sterling K Brown and Jennifer Lopez are currently doing the press rounds with co-star Simu Liu as they promote their newly released Netflix sci-fi movie, Atlas – though fans are noticing what appears to be some awkward tension between Brown and J Lo. In a clip from a recent interview, Brown’s sarcasm did not appear to go down too well with the On The Floor singer, much to the delight of viewers on TikTok.
‘Annoyed’ J Lo ignores Sterling Brown comment in awkward interview moment
When asked what their go-to comfort meal was during a straightforward press junket, J Lo was the first of the Atlas trio to respond – explaining that she is Puerto Rican, and that growing up her favorite meal was rice and beans.
Her answer was interrupted by Brown, however, who could barely contain his grin as he remarked “Are you Puerto Rican? Get outta here!” in what felt like a sarcastic dig at J Lo, as if to suggest she has made her nationality clear multiple times already.
“Yes I am,” came a blunt reply from Jlo – who shot her co-star a quick, stern glance before getting back to her answer without skipping a beat. Brown continued to speak over J Lo, putting on his best Puerto Rican accent as he listed dishes from the Caribbean island – only to be ignored by J Lo, who did her best to take no notice of the American Fiction actor.

While the pair didn’t actually clash, the comment section of the now-viral clip was full of giddy viewers who believed that the two A-list stars were throwing shade at one another.
“I just KNOW she was mad” laughed one viewer, as another remarked: “The straight face after he says it is what really gets me”.
One viewer went as far as to say: “I love Sterling. He is all of us, if we were sitting beside J Lo.”
J Lo has been at the center of a media storm as of late as rumors swirled about her and Ben Affleck potentially splitting, and she made headlines last week after reprimanding a fan for asking if there was any truth to such claims.
Fans are loving the Atlas press tour
The reason why the Puerto Rico clip amassed so many views and comments is that it isn’t the first instance of an amusing clip to arise from the Atlas press tour.
For instance, one Twitter (x) user amassed over 3.3 million views as they posted a clip of J Lo and Brown on the red carpet, captioned: “Sterling K Brown is JLo’s biggest opp and I love him for it”.
During the clip, Brown could be seen second guessing J Lo, as she claimed that she has been “winding down” in recent years – much to her co-star’s dismay.
And the trio of co-stars earned themselves plaudits as they flaunted their Spanish skills, with J Lo claiming that Liu’s Spanish is even better than hers:
In this rather wholesome clip, Brown explained how J Lo “ruined” a past relationship of his, after he got into a squabble over one of her music videos with his then-girlfriend:
