The latest on Djed Spence’s future at Tottenham as side interested ahead of summer transfer window

Tottenham Hotspur right-back Djed Spence has seen interest emerge for his permanent signing ahead of the summer transfer window.

It is going to be a summer of change at Tottenham with manager Ange Postecoglou expecting a number of players to move on to new clubs.

Although the window is not yet open, Spurs have already agreed on their first arrival of the summer with Timo Werner set to join on loan for the 2024/25 campaign.

However, player exits are going to be key over the coming months as it will allow Postecoglou to free up some space for new players to arrive.

And there are a number of players who could be allowed to leave this summer having failed to make an impression on the Australian manager.

Djed Spence receiving interest this summer but on one condition

It has been another turbulent campaign for Spence who has spent his season initially on loan at Leeds United before then joining Italian side Genoa.

The 23-year-old has failed to impress since signing for Spurs from Middlesbrough having played a total of just 41 minutes at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Having seen his loan with Leeds cut short by Daniel Farke earlier in the season, Spence has enjoyed a more successful stint in Serie A.

According to Nizaar Kinsella, Genoa are keen to sign Spence this summer after his short-term loan spell with the club.

However, they are not looking to pay the full £8.5m option that has been included in the defender’s loan agreement.

This comes just months after Tottenham spent £26m on Radu Dragusin as Genoa played hard ball when it came to their Romanian defender.

What Djed Spence has said about playing for Tottenham again

Spurs are going into the summer transfer window looking to add another full-back to their options to provide adequate support for Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie.

However, it seems a future for the former Middlesbrough right-back at Spurs is looking bleak with Postecoglou not overly keen on what he has seen so far from Spence.

Despite this, the Englishman has recently spoken about his desire to return to north London and prove himself under the Australian.

“I want to play for Tottenham,” he said.

“I want to be a big part of the plan but we’ve got to see how things go, have a discussion with the manager and everyone.”
