Chadi Riad in, new position for £9m man: How Oliver Glasner's Crystal Palace could look in 2024/25 - opinion

The 2024-25 season will be Oliver Glasner’s first full campaign in charge of Crystal Palace and hopes are high, here’s how the team could look.

The Eagles are flying high, and solid work over the summer could see 10th place this season become a European finish next season.

This is what Joachim Andersen is targeting anyway, as the great Dane admitted he wants to finish higher next season during a recent interview.

Crystal Palace have already got the summer off to a fast start, with Chadi Riad looking likely to arrive as Oliver Glasner’s first signing imminently.

Meanwhile, several others have been linked to Palace, and there is also the outside feat of having to see Michael Olise or Eberechi Eze depart.

With all of this in mind, here is how Oliver Glasner could line up his team in August with some signings added.

How Oliver Glasner could line Crystal Palace up in 2024/25

Next season could be explosive for Palace and Glasner after how special an end to the season we witnessed in what was only his first few months at the helm.

In goal, Dean Henderson will surely begin as the first choice as he thrived following Sam Johnstone’s injury. Henderson made some vital contributions during the seven-game unbeaten run and deserves to continue.

The backline sees one major change from last season with the arrival of Riad from Betis. Being left-footed he will likely slot in on the left side of the back three, joined by £9m man Chris Richards and Andersen, forming a strong backline after Marc Guehi‘s likely sale amid Manchester United links.

The wing-backs remain the same as both impressed in the final months of the season with Daniel Munoz on the right and Tyrick Mitchell on the left, although some additions can’t be written off to add depth.

In midfield, Cheick Doucoure returns from his almost season-long injury and then Adam Wharton slots in next to him, hopefully after a successful Euro 2024 campaign.

Eze is the one we think will stay and starts on the left with Gabriel Sara therefore brought in on the right for what’s reported to be a £30m move, replacing Olise with the Frenchman looking a likely departure.

Up front, the fantastic Jean-Philippe Mateta starts and will be looking to prove his immaculate form isn’t just a purple patch.
