Wayne Rooney has just made mega claim about Harry Kane ahead of Euro 2024

Wayne Rooney has named former Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane as the greatest English player of all time.

Tottenham fans will need no reminding of Harry Kane’s quality after the striker left as the club’s all-time top goalscorer last summer.

Since leaving the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Kane has continued to shine at Bayern Munich having 44 goals in his debut season in Germany.

Spurs supporters will have the opportunity to watch Kane regularly once again this summer as he prepares for Euro 2024. The 31-year-old is set to lead his country out at the tournament in Germany as Gareth Southgate’s skipper.

While England have had plenty of world-class players over the years, Kane stands alone when it comes to goals for his country.

The former Spurs star has netted 62 times for England and after breaking Wayne Rooney’s longstanding record back in March last year, the former Manchester United striker has named him as the Three Lions’ best-ever player.

Rooney makes Kane claim

Speaking on The Overlap, Rooney was full of praise for the former Tottenham star, labelling him as England’s greatest player.

“I think he is incredible,” Rooney said. “I think the goals he has scored. The assists he has added over the last few years as well. For me, I would say he is England’s greatest ever player.

“That’s some statement from you,” Gary Neville responded.

“I believe that,” Rooney went on. “You were talking about Jude before with his work rate, with Harry there is never an issue.

“He is the ultimate professional. He never misses a game. And that’s a common theme you would see with these players like Kane, Bellingham, Foden. I would put money on it, they would never miss training sessions or a game.”
