"Waiting": Crystal Palace lurking in background as Oliver Glasner aims to hijack £17m talks - Fabrizio Romano

Crystal Palace are waiting in the wings to see what happens with a £20 million player, who has previously played under Oliver Glasner.

After what was a brilliant end to the season under Oliver Glasner, Crystal Palace are set to be in for an important summer transfer window under the Austrian’s tutelage.

It seems the Palace hierarchy are aiming high with their transfer targets for the Eagles this summer with reports linking the South London club with an ambitious move for Sporting Lisbon attacker Pedro Goncalves.

An attacking midfielder seems to be high on the list of priorities for the club this summer and they have been linked to another number 10.

Palace waiting in the wings

Daichi Kamada is closing in on signing a new contract at Italian side Lazio but the deal is not yet complete as Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the situation on X.

Romano claims that the Italian side are waiting for the value of the release clause in the Japanese midfielder’s contract to be completed before finalising the extension.

The Italian side are keen on setting the midfielder’s release clause at around £17 million but Romano claims that Kamada could well want that fee set at a lower value.

Romano finishes his post on X by saying that Palace and former manager Glasner, who had the Japanese international in his ranks during his time at Eintracht Frankfurt, is waiting in the wings to see what happens.

Palace’s interest

Reports in Italy had stated that the South London club had offered the Japanese international £4.2 million a season to join the club but he had rejected the club’s overtures to remain at the Italian club.

This season for Lazio, Kamada has started 17 Serie A games and scored two goals, whilst providing two assists for the Roma based side.

Palace are set to be in for an important summer transfer window, after Dougie Freedman rejected Newcastle’s advances, transfers may well be key if Glasner is to improve the current group.

If Kamada is to commit his future to the Italian club, Palace have been linked with a move for Norwich City attacking midfielder Gabriel Sara, as per the BBC, which would be a good alternative to the Japanese international.
