As Chadi Riad passes medical, Palace now close to signing free agent after Oliver Glasner phone call - Fabrizio Romano

Crystal Palace now look like securing a second signing of the summer after Fabrizio Romano tweeted ‘Here we go soon’.

For Crystal Palace, this summer is extremely exciting with it being the inaugural transfer window of the new era under Oliver Glasner.

The Austrian will be desperate to have his squad sorted out early, and there are already multiple targets being heavily linked with making the move to Selhurst Park.

With some big exits expected, there will be huge pressure on Dougie Freedman to sort the squad out and hand Glasner a team capable of pushing further up the league next season.

Now, after it was reported that Chadi Riad has completed his medical at Copers Cope this week and is awaiting his announcement, a second signing is also on the cards.

Crystal Palace now closing in on Daichi Kamada

In a week which has already seen Riad on the verge of the announcement, Palace isn’t finished as the club is now close to securing Daichi Kamada.

It comes through Fabrizio Romano who has tweeted the news, explaining that Palace is closing a deal to sign Kamada as a free agent before hinting at those famous words as he wrote ‘Here we go soon!’.

Kamada is on the verge of joining his former manager Glasner in England, as the two are keen to renew their relationship from their time at Eintracht Frankfurt.

Glasner is said to have played a key role in securing the deal, as he called the Japanese international after talks with Lazio over a new deal collapsed, which Palace were waiting to happen.

So through all this from Romano, it seems likely that we will soon see Kamada in South London, as it was previously reported that he would have to decide by May 31st, which it seems he now has.

Where does Daichi Kamada really fit in at Selhurst Park?

Kamada is a player that Glasner absolutely adores, and there’s little chance he’ll be signed to throw onto the bench with a reported £81k-a-week contract.

Capable of playing behind the striker or further back as a number eight, Kamada’s versatility will be a benefit to the club.

However, if we had to put him into one position, it’s likely that he’d slot in as a midfielder alongside Adam Wharton or Cheick Doucoure and would offer relentless pressing in this role as Glasner desires from his entire team.

However, with the potential exits for Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze, Kamada could also soon be drafted in to help further forward where he is more than capable.

Signing number two is almost done and already this summer is looking excellent for Palace.
