22-year-old Chelsea player would actually now be open to move to Saudi Arabia - journalist

Chelsea have a 22-year-old player that is already open to the idea of joining a cash-rich club in Saudi Arabia.

Many of the high-profile stars to ditch European football for the glamorous lights of Saudi Arabia have been players towards the latter stage of their careers. For example, former Chelsea man N’Golo Kante left Stamford Bridge for Al-Ittihad back in 2023.

So, could a current Chelsea player soon be joining Kante in the Middle East?

Chelsea player open to Saudi Arabia

Journalist Ben Jacobs has reported via X on Thursday that Chelsea’s Armando Broja is expected to leave Stamford Bridge in this summer transfer window.

It is explained that the 22-year-old striker would be open to moving to Saudi. In fact, Al-Shabab have looked at him in the past.

Jacobs adds that Broja is attracting interest from Monaco, AC Mila, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Crystal Palace and Everton.

Apparently, interested clubs are considering a value of around £25m for the young centre-forward.

This comes amid claims from L’Equipe that French club Monaco have now stepped up their interest in signing Broja by entering negotiations with Chelsea.

Armando Broja reputation has taken a big hit

When you consider Chelsea wanted £50m to sell Broja in January (Sky Sports), his reputation has taken quite a battering.

The youngster’s got plenty of time to rediscover form and reach potential, but that has to be questionned if he ends up playing in Saudi Arabia next season.

It’s not worked out for the Chelsea academy graduate in the Blues first team, scoring three goals in 38 senior appearances in total. Admittedly, his serious knee injury at the end of 2022 really didn’t help him just as things were clicking into place.

If he can start playing regular football in the right environment, Broja has the all-round game as a forward to come good elsewhere.
