Tottenham’s James Maddison issues cheeky dig at Arsenal’s Declan Rice in England camp

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder James Maddison has issued a joking dig towards Arsenal’s Declan Rice during England’s pre-Euros camp.

The season may be over for Tottenham, but some of their players have now jetted off to take part in the preparations for their respective upcoming international tournaments.

Players like Cristian Romero and Rodrigo Bentancur will be playing for their nations in this summer’s Copa America.

But the majority of Tottenham’s international representatives will be jetting off to Germany for this summer’s Euros.

Ange Postecoglou‘s men may only have landed back in the country last week from their short trip to Melbounre, Australia, but the likes of James Maddison is already days into his training camp with England.

And during the England camp, Maddison has now issued a dig towards Arsenal’s Declan Rice ahead of their game against Bosnia and Herzegovina next week.

What James Maddison said to Declan Rice during England training camp

Despite a tricky second half of the campaign, Maddison was able to secure himself a spot in Gareth Southgate’s provisional England squad.

His place in the final side to travel to Germany is not yet decided, but his form towards the end of the campaign may provide him with some confidence going into the training camp.

Albeit a friendly, but Maddison did show some of his better form in recent months in Australia in the game against Newcastle United.

The Spurs midfielder was also able to impress in his last outing for England having come off the bench to provide the assist for Jude Bellingham’s equaliser against Belgium.

England have published the latest footage from their training camp on Saturday showing the players to be in high spirits ahead of next week’s friendly.

And that could be seen through an interaction between Maddison and Arsenal’s Rice as the players got prepared for a training session.

“Declan Rice… worst music [taste] in the squad,” Maddison jokingly said on England’s YouTube channel.

“Worst DJ in the squad… Declan Rice.”

James Maddison’s shared controversial North London Derby comments this week

The tribalism seen between players in England squads of years gone by no longer exists with players from rival clubs clearly getting on well.

And that is good news for England fans going into this summer’s competition with a clear harmony between the players.

But it is not surprising there is not the same levels of tribalism after Maddison’s recent comments on the North London Derby earlier in the week.

“Listen, I’m not a Tottenham fan,” Maddison told TalkSPORT.

“Deep down in my heart. I don’t have the hatred for Arsenal that Tottenham fans have.
