Sheffield Wednesday fans have plenty to say after latest Dejphon Chansiri revelation

Sheffield Wednesday fans have had their say after it was revealed that owner Dejphon Chansiri wants fresh investment at the club.

An emerging report has revealed that controversial Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri is keen to secure fresh investors at the club going forward.

But Chansiri is unwilling to divulge full control of the club, prompting a widespread discussion among Sheffield Wednesday fans on social media.

There remains a large portion of the Owls faithful who are against the ownership of Chansiri, with the events of the 2023/24 leading to the formation of The 1867 Group.

But Chansiri has eased tensions somewhat after securing a new contract for Danny Rohl, after the club escaped relegation from the Championship.

News of potential investors is positive. But fans are still concerned that Chansiri is largely calling the shots, and taking on too much work for just one person.

@uptheowls76 says: “So he wants to play with other peoples money but still call the shots?” Whilst @ourclub1867 says: “No investor in their right mind will work with him [Chansiri].”

There is the odd bit of positivity, with @Owlzaboutthat1 posting: “Step in the right direction”, but many would rather see Chansiri outright sell the club rather than bring in new investors.

@lukepeo1867 says: “He wants what he’s put in back before he sells,” and @AvoB1987 says: “If we’ve genuine buyers he really needs to just cut his losses and sell up.”

Chansiri has previously pumped money into the club but poor league finishes and poor long-term planning now has Sheffield Wednesday, seemingly, in a poor financial position.

That might explain this newfound want for fresh investment, but the overall feeling from Sheffield Wednesday fans is that Chansiri finally needs to step aside, cut his losses, and let the club progress under fresh ownership.

But with that idea unlikely, new investment may be the best that fans can hope for right now. Even then, it doesn’t seem like new investors will change much about the actual running of the club, if Chansiri can even attract new investors.

@Jay_Blogs says: “No one will want to invest without some kind of say unless it’s pure sponsorship,” highlighting the potential trouble that Chansiri might have in attracting new investors, given the idea that he can be difficult to work with.
