King’s Lynn track plays host to Brookes Bilge Bonanza meeting

A large field of local drivers will be in action at King’s Lynn on Saturday with a special National Banger meeting celebrating the 30+ year career of Stu Brookes with Brookes Bilge Bonanza.

Three classes of National Bangers will be in action in the shape of the Micro Bangers, 1600cc Bangers and 2L Bangers.

As the “Bilge” name suggests though, normal cars which are eligible for this meeting are not allowed and instead cars to be used are those which would normally be uncompetitive in the respective formulas against the quick modern cars and as such will be a bit of a throwback to what banger racing was like 20 years ago.

113 Dan Wright – along with brother Brad – excels at these types of National Bangers and Wright will be in action in two classes on Saturday as he competes in both the 1600 and 2L classes. Picture Kim McPherson

It promises to be a fantastic night in celebration of a great career by a superb man and it is great to see that each class will have local drivers in action.

Two drivers are going to be very busy as they compete in two classes with Jack Licquorice racing the Micro and 1600 classes and Dan Wright racing the 1600 and 2L classes.

James Licquorice will be joining his brother in the Micro class on the back of a sensational performance in the Micro and Big Van Bangers back on White Moay and he will also be joined by James Cable.

Brad Wright will be joining his brother in the 2L class – the Wright brothers love and excel at these type of meetings.

Brad Bartram will also be in the 2L class as will Nicky Young and Olly Scott will be swapping three wheels for four as the accomplished Reliant Robin racer will be making a National Banger appearance.

The Junior Bangers will see Levi Murkin, Taylor Morton, Riley Crowson, Lincoln Douglas, Archie Horwood and Keyan Murkin Everett in action.
