Tottenham Hotspur make contact to sign striker who is simply ‘horrible’ to play against

Tottenham Hotspur have already secured two summer signings but are in the market for more as Ange Postecoglou looks to improve.

Europa League football will be returning to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer with Ange Postecoglou securing a fifth-place finish.

The Tottenham boss will be looking to go one better next season and finish in the top four, but he will need reinforcements to make that happen.

Two deals have already been secured for this summer.

Swedish wonderkid Lucas Bergvall will arrive from Djurgarden having agreed to join Tottenham back in February.

Spurs also pounced with a new deal for Timo Werner last week, bringing back the RB Leipzig attacker on loan once again.

That is a good start for Tottenham but more will be needed – and Spurs could now pounce for a Premier League striker.

Tottenham Hotspur interested in Rodrigo Muniz

Tottenham fans hardly need reminding that Harry Kane left the club for Bayern Munich last summer.

The surprising part is that Tottenham are yet to land a replacement centre forward, instead landing versatile forwards such as Werner and Brennan Johnson.

The time may have come for Tottenham to spend on a new centre forward and a fresh target has now emerged.

Goal Brasil reporter Thiago Fernandes claims that Tottenham have now made first contact to sign Fulham centre forward Rodrigo Muniz.

It’s noted that Chelsea are also interested and have going Tottenham in weighing up the possibility of a summer deal.

The report draws attention to the fact that Muniz is represented by the CAA Base agency, who have very strong ties to Tottenham.

Current Tottenham stars James Maddison, Pape Matrar Sarr, Pedro Porro and Son Heung-min are all currently the books with CAA Base.

Even former Tottenham players Kieran Trippier, Kyle Walker, Dele and Kyle Walker-Peters are with CAA Base, just like forgotten man Djed Spence.

Those ties to CAA Base are not to be overlooked and that could help secure a deal for Muniz this summer.

Muniz form came out of nowhere

Brazilian hitman Muniz joined Fulham back in 2021, arriving from Flamengo.

The 23-year-old scored just five times in his first season at Fulham before a disappointing loan spell at Middlesbrough saw him find the net just twice in 18 games.

Muniz was virtually a non-factor in the first half of the 2023-24 season but really exploded from February onwards.

A goal against Burnley on February 3rd saw Muniz go on a run of eight goals in eight Premier League games.

Muniz was earning huge praise for his displays with Alan Shearer claiming that he is simply ‘horrible’ to play against.

Part of that unexpected run saw Muniz score twice in a 3-0 hammering of Tottenham in March.

Muniz’s goals dried up a little as he scored just once in his final eight games of the season.

Tottenham may have seen enough potential in Muniz to strike a summer deal though, with Postecoglou potentially seeing him as a physical target men just like Giorgos Giakoumakis and Oh Hyeon-gyu, his strikers at Celtic.
