Report: Chelsea's recruitment team think 'special' player is perfect for their squad

Senior figures at Chelsea are likely to be happy with how the club’s summer is going so far.

Mauricio Pochettino left Chelsea by mutual consent last month, but the Blues quickly replaced him with Enzo Maresca.

Maresca, who has left Leicester City to join Chelsea, was named as Pochettino’s successor on Monday.

The 2021 Champions League winners are also closing in on their first signing.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, they have beaten Newcastle United in the race for Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo.

Chelsea recruitment team buzzing about potential signing

Chelsea are set to be busy in the transfer market this summer.

Thiago Silva is joining Fluminense and another central defender, Trevoh Chalobah, could follow the Brazilian out of the exit door.

Chalobah has been linked with a move to Manchester United.

It opens up room for Adarabioyo to join the club in a move Chelsea seem to be really happy about.

According to GiveMeSport, their recruitment team believe that the Fulham star is the perfect profile for their squad.

Why Tosin Adarabioyo could be the perfect profile for Chelsea

Height was a problem for Chelsea this season and something Pochettino reportedly had concerns about.

Back in December, the Daily Mail claimed that Pochettino felt Chelsea’s lack of height was causing issues and was one reason why he was playing central defender Levi Colwill at left-back.

Adarabioyo, who has been described as a “special” player by Marco Silva, stands at 6ft 5in so should help the Blues out massively in that department. His stats suggest that he will.

As per FBref, the 26-year-old has an average of 3.12 aerials won per 90 minutes, putting him in the 88th percentile among his positional peers.

Factor in that he is a free agent this month, and you can really see why Chelsea have turned to Adarabioyo. He ticks a lot of boxes and will now be expected to help solve a problem that seemed to really bother Pochettino this season.
