The genius transfer swap deal that makes perfect sense for both Aston Villa and Arsenal

The player swap deal that both Aston Villa and Arsenal could complete this summer that makes perfect sense for both clubs.

Aston Villa have a big summer transfer window ahead of them. After a sensational 2023/24 season, the cub managed to qualify for the Champions League.

This will give Unai Emery and Monchi the perfect opportunity to reinforce many of their positions this summer with the lure of top European football.

However, FFP could restrict their approach after Villa made a loss of just under £120 million in 2023.

With transfer rumours now set to dominate Villa’s news feed for the next few months, this article suggests that Villa should look to complete a player swap deal with Arsenal.

Douglas Luiz seems the most likely of all of Villa’s star players to leave this summer. The midfielder has consistently performed at Villa Park for multiple seasons which has attracted plenty of attention.

It is believed that Douglas Luiz is worth £100 million to the Birmingham outfit after the club set their asking price before the January window.

Arsenal and Liverpool have both been heavily linked with Douglas Luiz and now could be the time to cash in on the midfielder.

Despite the potential money offer being a temptation, Villa should try and pursue a swap deal for Emile Smith-Rowe and Oleksandr Zinchenko.

The pair are believed to be available this summer. Smith-Rowe has been linked with Villa for many months while Arsenal are looking to sell Zinchenko according to reports.

This duo could add plenty to Emery’s side if they were to come to Villa Park.

Smith-Rowe is an England international who shone under the Spaniard at the Emirates but has recently struggled to get back into the team. Emery could help reignite his form, as he has done with plenty of Villa’s first team.

On top of this, the full-back position is arguably one of the club’s weakest positions. By bringing in an experienced head like Zinchenko, it could help solve this issue once and for all.

Arsenal could value Smith-Rowe and Zinchenko at £30 million and £39 million respectively. Therefore, the duo plus £30-40 million on top could be a genius move for Villa to plug up some of the holes in the side.

Throughout many of Villa’s recent seasons in the Premier League, the club have spent plenty.

This has seen Villa break numerous transfer records, most recently Moussa Diaby last summer.

With FFP becoming a concern for Villa, it would be wise for them to cut back on spending. However, this does not mean that they can not reinforce their squad.

By letting some of their outcasts go as well as one or two big names, the Birmingham outfit could easily have a fantastic window and end up with a better team than last season.

With Villa now in the Champions League, they have become one of the most attractive clubs in the world and would be wise to take advantage.
